Bengali HomeCooking
We started in 2006 to show Indian & Bengali cooking videos. In this age of obesity, diabetes & cardiovascular diseases, we should know the
foods that our biological system has been adapted to over generations. Scientific evidence abounds that adopting new foods leads to new
ailments. We should relearn our traditional foods. Please, see below for comments

Why there are so few of recipes?
Good point, Monalisa. We may be slow but we hope to be steady :-)

I am a frequent visitor of your website. I refer to your dishes pretty often as I am still honing my skills in Bengali cooking. Do post some more recipes if possible. You have done a great job
indeed.
Thanks, Debolina.

Very lovely looking recipes. Would love to try tasting dishes like "Shojne-data Chorchoree," "Indian Mutton Curry, a traditional Bengali..", "Bengali Fish Curry with Koi Fish," "Gongura
Chatni," when I go next time to visit you. PS. Feel deep sense of betrayal and great sadness that you in fact knew how to make Gongura Chatni this whole time, but never made any for
me. Suggest a "Vegetable Cutlet, a delicious appetizer" as possibly acceptable bribe for my forgiveness.
Rupa, we did not know you like gongura chatni so much :-). [Note: Rupa is a close family friend and a very accomplished cook herself].

Reza, you are most welcome! The Bengali Cook Book will materialise. And the recipes will be on smart phones and other hand held electronic devices, so one would be able to view it on a
kitchen counter and cook.

Many thanks for the recipes - especially for the delicious hilsa dishes! Do you have a recipe for smoked hilsa? It would also be lovely to see a few more Bengali classics such as shukto,
loochi, banana flower dishes, roshogolla and rabri. Keep up the good work!
You are welcome, Chotu.

Why dont u people use "panch phoron" which is a must in bengali dishes......
Soumojit, we used "panch phoron" (meaning, five spices) in cooking "Sojne data Chorchoree", "Koie fish" etc.

Thanks a lot for sharing your mothers receipe. I am a bengali woman, grew up in Bombay learning cosmopolitan indian cooking. Since my mom was working full-time at the time, she could
not devote much time cooking or teaching bengali cuisine. Now I am married with a 2 year old and reside in chicago. I work full-time and I look cooking. your receipe helps me learn
authentic bengali dishes that your mom makes. Thanks a lot for sharing. Best regards
Thank you so much for your nice comments Sunita.

Very nice Hilsha recipe.
Reason I tried this in the first place is that you present this in very structured way that is easy to follow.  Good picture quality is also a big plus point. Thank you. (p.s.How about Doi Maach
for the next one?)
Thank you Manoj for your kind comments.
